Nails of the Week: Coral Crush

This week I did all my nails the same color which, if you follow my Pinterest you would know, is not common for me.

My sister bought this polish along with the Teal one for me this past week. I know, she rocks!
I have never tried Maybelline polishes before but I have to say I'm impressed.

The color is neon with a slightly shinny finish (without a top coat). The application wasn't bad at all. Although this is a mandatory two-coat polish, it is beautiful.

Have you tried any of Maybelline polishes? What do you think?

Wedding Makeup & Hair

This past Saturday my friend Brittany had a wedding to go to. She called me and asked me to do her hair and makeup for the occasion. Her dress was black with hot pain heels and accents. This is what I came up with.

Makeup

Face

  • Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer
  • Neutrogena Skin-Clearing Makeup mixed with Lioele Beyond the Solution BB Cream
  • L'oreal Visible Lift Powder in Fair
  • Maybelline Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser Concealer in Fair
  • Revlon PhotoReady Bronzer in Bronzed & Chic
  • Benefit HighBeam
  • Milani Baked Blush in Dolce Pink

Eyes

  • Too Faced Shadow Insurance Primer
  • Wet n' Wild Creme Shadow Pencil in Pixie
  • Chickaboom Shadow in Pyramids from the Rose Russo palette
  • Chickaboom Shadow in Ken's Girl from the Rose Russo palette
  • Urban Decay Shadow in Sin from the Naked palette
  • Urban Decay Shadow in Naked from the Naked palette
  • Chickaboom Shadow in Silver Belle mixed with Carbonize from the Rose Russo palette
  • Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero
  • L'oreal Voluminous Original Mascara in Back/Brown
Hair

Products Used

  • Frizz-Ease Dream Curls Curl-Perfecting Spray
  • TRESemme TRES Two Hair Spray

Styling Tools Used

  • Ion Super Moist Solutions 1/2 inch Flat Iron
  • Bobby Pins
  • Conair Teasing Comb

First, I curled all her hair with the flat iron. I find that when you're working with hard-to-curl hair, the best way to keep the curls lasting all day is to use a small flat iron. Then a teased the crown of her hair to give a little lift and volume. After smoothing down the top, I secured the sides of her hair in a half-up style with bobby pins.

Here is the finished look!

Review: Chickaboom RR (Rose Russo) Palette

The Chickaboom RR palette is comprised of 15 mineral eye shadows in which are very soft and bendable. This palette has some of the cutest packaging I have ever seen. This palette was designed by a YouTube Guru by the name of Rose Russo. She has been making beauty videos since 2006 and she is a joy to watch. I would have to say Rose is the very first YouTuber I followed, before starting my own channel. She isn't as active anymore for some reason, but her old material is still good. Watch Rose introduce this palette.

This is the only palette I own that is actually embroidered with it's logo. It gives a very sleek touch and looks very professional.

I find the colors to be very pigmented. Although, there is a slight difference between the way these colors look in the pan opposed to on the skin. In the pan all the shadows look as if they are shimmery. Yet, when swatched you can see that there are three matte colors (Barbarella, Portrait, and Decaf). Here are some swatches, on my arm and in the pan, so you can see the difference.

From left to right the the colors in the palette include....

Vanilla Sugar: Bright shimmery white
Portrait: Dark matte taupe
Smolder: Shimmery medium brown
Decaf: Dark matte brown
Amazed: Bright Blue with a hint of purple
Silver Belle: Shimmery Silver
Pyramids: Muted baby pink with slight shimmer
Envious: Bright hunter green with gold shimmer
Ken's Girl: Bright hot pink with gold shimmer
Gousto: Deep royal purple with silver shimmer
Carbonize: Shimmery black
24k: Bright shimmery gold
Lucky Penny: Bright metallic copper
Barbarella: Soft matte pink
Bewitched: Dark purple with a hint of navy blue

As for the ingredients, I'm really impressed. These shadows do not include any talc or parabens, so it's perfect for those with sensitive skin.

Where to buy?

I purchased mine on the Chickaboom website. This palette was originally $49.99 plus shipping. Which is going to be expensive if you are in the US. Chickaboom as put this palette on sale for half off. Now it's $24.98, which is an amazing deal if you ask me. Plus, if you follow Chickaboom on titter you can get free shipping!

My Overall Rating

5/5 Perfect!

Check this palette out in action. Here I have created a tutorial with my favorite look using this palette. Let me know what you think!

Review: Too Faced On the Prowl Set

Too Faced On The Prowl Set

This set is one that i had eyed on the shelves of Sephora for months. Then when i finally decided to take the plunge and purchase it, i was so glad i did. The set is made up of a face primer, brush, and palette. The palette contains a blush, bronzer, and brightener. All by Too Faced. The kit can be purchased here.

Leopard Love Complexion Perfection Kit

When i first opened the complexion kit, it was a lot smaller than i expected. I really wanted them to be full sized. The powders are holding up and lasting pretty well though. I also love the packaging, very chic. All these shimmery powders are highly pigmented and blendable. The kit is broken up into three Too Faced leopard products...

Peach Leopard: This is the bronzer in the palette. It is very soft and  smooth. I love the way it applies. Most soft bronzers are hard to get out with a softer brush. With this, that isn't a problem. I tried it with my e.l.f bronzing brush (coarse) and the Flatbuki the set comes with (soft). Both apply the product well. There is shimmer in the lighter brown shade, but it is very fine and barly noticeable when applied. The peach tone in this bronzer is what sets it apart from others. Bronzers with all one dark brown color can be overpowering for fair skinned people. Because i am fair skinned myself, this works perfectly for me. Too Faced claims that this bronzer is corrective. I don't really see that. It is able to warm up the whole face very well but as far as hiding imperfection, not so much.

Candy Leopard:This blush is made up of three colors as well: rose, light pink, and a shimmery champagne-white.This blush is not as soft as the peach leopard so it's harder to actually get out of the pan. Candy Leopard is not sold separately so this product makes the whole palette original.

Pink Leopard: This can be used as a highlight or an all over face brightener. This is the most versatile powder in the palette. It can be used as a highlight, blush and bronzer. My favorite way to use it is to highlight.

Lip Of Luxury Lipstick in Cougar

This is where i believe the set really lacks. The name matches the set because it keeps with the "kitty theme". The color is just not flattering to me. It's mocha brown with very fine purple shimmer throughout. The lipstick itself is also a bit dry. To make this set perfect the brand could have had options on the color or picked a more flattering shade.

Flatbuki

This brush is very soft. It's domed bristles make it an exeptional bronzing brush (which is what i use it for). It's also good for an all over buffing brush, or to apply powder after foundation.

Primed & Poreless Skin Smoothing Face Primer

This first thing that makes this primer different is the fact that it has a tint. Nothing to the power of a tinted moisturizer though. This primer reminds me of the L'Oreal Magic Perfecting Base. It has the same silky smoothness and scent.

For those of you who are not familiar with that primer, it makes the skin very smooth. I like to wear it by itself on days where i'm not wearing a lot of makeup because it makes my skin look very even and soft.

There's the whole set. I am officially in love with the Too Faced Leopard products now, and i will be repurchasing peach leopard, pink leopard, and the primer.

Overall Rating 4/5

Tell me, have you tried this set? What are your thoughts on it?

Thank so much for stopping by!

CVS Haul

Hey everyone! At 9am this morning i decided to make a CVS run and i came out of the store with all kinds of beauty products. This isn't a huge haul but it is certainly worth mentioning.

Here are the details...

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser

(Dark Circles)

I heard Ashley Sander on YouTube rave about this product, so i gave in. I am always up for a new concealer. I love concealers and i use them pretty much every day. Since i do have dark circles i figured i could put this to use.

Wet n wild Megalast in Club Havanna

This color is actually a little lighter than it look in these pictures.
This polish was highly recommended by Emily on Beauty Broadcast, so of course i had to try it. The first thing i noticed that was different about this polish was the brush. It's really thick so i'm not sure what effect that will have on the application, we'll see.

Essence of | BEAUTY's Crease Brush Duo

This was another recommendation by Emily. As you can tell, i absolutely love her. I have been searching for "the best" crease brush because my favorite eye look is a smokey eye. They are a bit smaller than i expected. They are not very soft.. at all, and i'm noticing some fall out with the both of them. Like seriously A LOT of fall out every time i touch the bristles. I'm worried about this purchase, but i trust Emily....

Conair 75 pack of black bobby pins

I ran out so i got some more :) I always seem to misplace bobby pins. I got black out of habit because my hair has always been dark. Now that i'm going auburn i may regret that decision.

Secret Clinical Strength Deodorant

I have a phobia of smelling bad. I know that's so strange but it's true. So i am really picky about my deodorants and perfumes. Ever since i can remember, i have been trying all sorts of different deodorants. This one is really something different. It lasts the longest and smells amazing. I love love love it! So, of course, i repurchased.

Conair Styling Essentials for teasing & shaping styles

I am getting my hair cut on Tuesday, and it's going to be completely different. It's going to have shorter choppy layers at the crown and longer layers too. It's hard to explain but i'll post pictures. Anyway, i'll need to have volume in order to make the style work so i got these to help me with that.

The Original Turbie Twist in pink

I have been wanting to try these for as long as i can remember, but i could never find them anywhere in person. I did find some online but they were sort of pricey so i always put it off. I always put my hair in a towel when i get out of the shower. Surprisingly, towels can get really heavy and strain my neck. So after years of that, i am so excited to be able to keep my hair in a towel while i do my face masks and things of that nature.

Wet n wild Megalash in Very Black

I want to try different mascaras because i'm pretty sure i can count on one hand how many i have tried in my life. After i got it home i read the back, and it's supposed to go with AM and PM serums to make lashes longer and thicker. I'm pretty happy with my lashes so hopefully this wont be a dud by itself.

So that's it. Let me know if you have tried any of these things and what you thought of them.

Review: Seacret Mud Mask

I was introduced to the Seacret at my mall. One of the little vendor people had a whole line of the Seacret products. The guy was trying to sell everyone who passed on Seacret's Nail Care Collection. I hastily walked past him to avoid him reaching out and taking my polish off. About the third time i saw him in the mall, i stopped at his booth. He showed me how shiny this stuff could make my nails, i won't lie i was pretty amazed. I went to school that week ranting and raving about how awesome Seacret was. One of my friends ended up buying me the whole nail care kit (which was awesome of him). The stuff was phenomenal! And the lotion that came with it? Wonderful! I was officially hooked.

I had stopped using the kit after high school for some reason and recently picked it up again.
This reuniting lead me to go online to find out what other products they had, and if there were any improvements or additions.  There was! I found their mud masks, and i had to try one out.

Initial Reaction: OMG this is so exciting my first real mud mask!!!! It's so cute!!

Double Take: ...that smell eugh.. not so cute.

When i first put it on, it feels really sooth. Then after i let it sit for a bit, it kind of burns. Maybe it's more of an intense tingle, but i can definitely feel it. The smell is something to be brought up. It's really really bad. Almost like actual mud, that's honestly what it reminds me of.

After about two or three minutes, when the mask is dry, it has a cooling effect. It dries very stiff. I personally like that about it, but if you have sensitive skin this mask would not be a good idea.
I would recommend this product for combination to oily skin types because of the way the mask dries on the skin. The burning/tingling feeling when you first put the mask on will irritate sensitive skin. Once past that feeling the mask is quite refreshing. The longer it's worn the better it feels. I'm not sure if that is because i am getting used to the feeling or that it's actually going away.

After worn for four to five minutes the smell goes almost completely away (thankfully).
To remove the mask from my face i take a towel, drenched in warm water, and rub in circular motions. It comes off very easily. The cleanness it leaves behind is amazing. i feel as if my face as never been this clean in my life. It also leaves my skin feeling very smooth. It looks as if i put a primer on.

Should you try this if you have...
  • Sensitive skin: no
  • Combination skin: yes
  • Oily skin: yes
You can also find this product on ebay for a fraction of the usual cost :)

Overall Rating: 4/5
